2020 Meeting Dates and Letter from the President
The upcoming meeting and workshop for the Association of Mid-Atlantic Aquatic Biologists (AMAAB) will be held at Cacapon State Park near Berkeley Springs, WV on April 1 – 3, 2020.
The annual States’ Meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 1, and will provide an open forum for exchanging ideas among biologists working throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. This year, several of the hot-button topics that will be discussed include stream restoration design and implementation, aquatic invasive species management, and new challenges to effective Smallmouth Bass management.
On Thursday, April 2, there will be a full day of oral presentations, a poster session, and an evening social. Attendees are encouraged to share their research as either an oral or poster presentation. This provides an ideal venue to share your research and results with regional biologists, familiarize yourself with other projects in the Mid-Atlantic, and engage with other biologists in friendly conversation.
Workshops, which will be held on Friday morning, enable participants to learn a new skill or to enhance their knowledge about a variety of relevant topics. All workshops are instructed by regional experts about the various topics. This year, several of the workshops that will be available to AMAAB attendees include: An Introduction to Geomorphology Survey Methods, StreamStats: Streamflow Statistics and Spatial Analysis Tools for Water-Resources Applications, and Identification of Aquatic Crane Fly Larvae.
Registration forms and a call for papers will be made available through the AMAAB website (www.amaab.org) in January 2020. The website will be continuously updated as details for the 2020 meeting are finalized.
On behalf of the AMAAB Board, we are looking forward to seeing you this spring!
Best Regards,
Tomas Ivasauskas
